 CIRP IPSS 2017 IMG 6727 25 Copenhagen, June 19-21th, 2017, The 9th CIRP IPSS Conference at DTU Copenhagen took place with the theme "Circular Perspectives on Product Service Systems". The following 5 aspects of product service systems were covered: Optimization, Sustainability, Life Cycle, Design, Satisfaction. Approximately 170 participants from 18 countries and 4 continents learned the latest insights from academic research, in particular from engineering faculties and institutes around the world, through 4 keynote speeches, about 80 paper presentations and a day of various topics tours in the city of Copenhagen. The German scientific community is prominently represented, i.a. by scientists of the Ruhr University Bochum, the RWTH Aachen, TUen Berlin and Braunschweig, the University of Kaiserslautern, various Fraunhofer Institutes and the Bremen BIBA as well as from universities in Furtwangen, Emden, Pforzheim.  ISOLogo Switzerland, Genf, January 13th, 2017 - International Management System Standards - ISO Survey 2015 - A total of 1,519,952 certificates were issued worldwide in 2015, compared to 1,476,504 the previous year, an increase of 3%. ISO added a new management system standard, ISO/IEC 20000-1:2011 Information technology – Service management – Part 1 Service management system requirements, after recommendations from international accreditation and certification experts that ISO consult annually. Netherlands, Venlo, March 16 – 17, 2016; 90th Chapter Meeting
of AFSMI German Chapter e.V. in Co-operation with AFSMI Netherlands and the European Chapters of CFSMI - Symposium Service Business Innovation at Océ - Technologies B.V. Product manufacturers and service providers are currently faced with huge challenges. Innovations are needed in order to increase the value of products and machines and to keep them productive with the help of services. The development of new services with reference, above all, to the use and evaluation of machine data was the topic which the roughly 60 participants of the 90th Chapter Meeting of the AFSMI German Chapter e.V. were concerned with. The international meeting took place at Océ-Technologies B.V. in Venlo in the Netherlands. After an introduction into the topic and a guided tour through the Océ museum on the first day, vivid presentations of best practices and interesting scientific reports were on the agenda on the following day.

RISE-BPM - Propelling Business Process Management by Research and Innovation Staff Exchange. Project Management by Kompetenzzentrum für Dienstleistungsforschung an der Westfälischen Wilhelms-Universität MünsterERCIS

RISE_BPM is the first favourably evaluated project proposal submitted by the University of Münster in cooperation with ERCIS partners within the Horizon 2020 EU funding programme. The RISE_BPM project is aimed at networking world-leading research institutions and corporate innovators to develop new horizons for Business Process Management (BPM). The project consortium, besides the University of Münster as the coordinator, includes partners from Australia, South Korea, Brazil, Austria, Spain, the Netherlands, and Liechtenstein.

The RISE_BPM project is aimed at networking world-leading research institutions and corporate innovators to develop new horizons for Business Process Management (BPM). BPM is a boundary-spanning discipline focused on division and re-integration of day-to-day work in organisations and on analysis of process data for organisational decision-making. Recent breakthrough innovations in Social Media, Smart Devices, Real-Time Computing and Big Data Technology create a strong impetus for propelling BPM into a pervasive corporate topic that enables design of entirely new products and services. Project runs from 2015 until 2019.

20141127 MSEE 2 Belgium, Brussels, 27.11.2014 MSEE Final Workshop “By 2015, novel service-oriented management methodologies and the Future Internet universal business infrastructure will enable European virtual factories and enterprises to self-organize in distributed, autonomous, interoperable, non-hierarchical innovation ecosystems of tangible and intangible manufacturing assets, to be virtually described, on-the-fly composed and dynamically delivered as a Service, end-to-end along the globalised value chain.” (MSEE Vision) The final workshop of the MSEE (Manufacturing SErvice Ecosystem) project will be held on November 27th, 2014 at Centre Borschette in Brussels, with the aim to introduce the break-through outcomes, lessons learnt, best practices and recommendations by MSEE in the journey towards a fully servitised manufacturing industry.

Competence 200  Germany, Munich March 17th,2014 CFSMI created a Center for Education, Research and Transfer (CERT) in Europe. Based on previous activities of AFSMI Chapters in France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Spain and Switzerland it will coordinate and focus these initiatives. For an analysis of the current situation different regional, national and international Service Expert Workshops took place. Main gaps between service business practice and service science insight were identified in the areas of education, competencies, business models, engineering, controlling, standards and value added services. CFSMIs objective is to enhance High-Tech Service competencies through the communication of Good Service Practice for the High-Tech Service industry, its members, and the public.

AFSMI France & Germany - Education, Research and Transfer in Europe

Since several years we observe and participate in different national and international Research initiatives which focus on innovation and productivity of services. AFSMI GC and AFSMI CH supports and has supported such projects.Horizon 2020, started January 2014, is the biggest EU Research and Innovation programme ever with nearly €80 billion of funding available over 7 years (2014 to 2020) – in addition to the private investment that this money will attract. It promises more breakthroughs, discoveries and world-firsts by taking great ideas from the lab to the market. AFSMI GC has already started to support Horizon 2020 projects with a service impact.

France, Paris, December 13th 2012 4. European High-Tech-Services Management Workshop AFSMI France & Germany.

The relevant knowledge areas of High-Tech-Serice Management where discussed and strengths and weaknesses where identified. Main strength is the technology system in terms of hardware and software. Main weaknesses are the education system, new business models, Value Added Services, terminology and standards. It was discussed, how we can address the weaknesses and which actions can be taken.

Economic growth is an actual discussion within the EU. Service Experts from business and research are convinced that at least a part of the service industry is one area of potential growth, if borders of service innovation and productivity are faced. Service research has been developed during the last years, never the less there are challenges for enhanced and sustainable transfer between research and business and other relevant stakeholders. In the following some aspects of better service innovation is presented as a result of an international project (EPISIS) with the focus on better transfer between business and research. These aspects are part of a proposed international Service Transfer Platform and a Transfer Concept from AFSMI German Chapter.

 Future Service Management

Germany, Wiesbaden, October 30th, 2009 AFSMI invests in Future Service Management - The executive agenda for achieving superior service performance

Process partnering, keeping smart shoppers, leveraging the business potential of remote services technology, and strengthening the business management capabilities of service organizations are key convergent priorities of executives and senior managers in service organizations. The 2009 future service management study provides a 360-degree view of the priorities of leading services organization in key industries of the German economy. The study delivers focused analyses for shaping the strategic agenda of service executives. The future service management panel is a joint project of the Association for Services Management International German Chapter, Wiesbaden, and the International Business School of Service Management, Hamburg.

 Course of study guide US USA, Fort Myers, August 1st, 2001. AFSMI defined a first curriculum for Service Management Education. It served as basis for certification programs of course of studies in Germany and France. Furthermore a list of international places is maintained, where service education and trainings can be found.  Several lectures where held during the last years from members and nearly 500 students received AFSMI certificates. It is planned to collect typical job profiles in our field and make them available for information of interested young people and professionals about the attractiveness and challenges of the Service Management profession.
